Do you know “Crazy” by Aerosmith? If not, what are you even doing with your life?? If yes, you probably grew up in the ’90s like me which was all about rock power ballads and Aerosmith was being played at every party I went to in middle school and high school. I went to, like, three parties, but still. “Crying”, “Crazy” and “Amazing” were very on-brand as far as song titles went for my angsty pre-teen and teen self. These songs were usually requested toward the end of the night, hoping a miracle would happen and your crush would ask you to a sweaty, shaky slow dance, during which you would wonder the entire time if you’d get kissed and if so, how you could keep your braces from getting stuck together.

When Crazy came out MTV was the shit and after I got home from school, I pretty much just watched music videos for hours on my brother’s TV until he kicked me out of his room. I had my little pre-teen brain blown by the video to “Crazy”, which featured Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler (two of the IT girls of the 90s) skipping school to go on a road trip together. It was basically a coming-of-age movie condensed into 6 min and 18 seconds of a music video. I just watched it today for the first time in decades. It definitely feels like a guy’s standard lesbian porn fantasy including school girl uniforms, “amateur night” at the strip club, and pillow fights. My reaction to it today was, okay, gross.
