Thank you for your thoughts, Richard. I agree nobody asks to be a drunk. As a matter of fact, both my parents had good reasons to drink. And by good, I mean very bad, horrible things understandably led them to want to numb and escape. I have compassion for that. But I still refuse to be anyone's lesson. I think this is maybe the main point where you and I disagree. The thing that pisses me off the most about the no regrets bullshit is that people use it to avoid reckoning with the pain they caused under the guise of it being a lesson for them to become a better person.
