Thank you for your thoughts, Selena. I think (I hope) ballet has changed a bit in the three decades+ since my earliest experiences, but I don't know for sure. Only one of my daughters ever expressed an interest in ballet for a few months while she was in Kindergarten. It wasn't her thing and she moved on. I taught ballet at a small school before I had kids and I loved that I could pass on some of the things I loved about it without the harshness that often comes with classical ballet training. I'm glad your daughter found her place in the karate studio and it's so lovely how you supported her in that transition. Feeling good and right in our bodies is one of the most important things we can have in life and pass on to our kids (not that I've figured out how to do this, but I'm trying).
