The one guaranteed way to find your life’s purpose
I’m kidding — do we actually still believe this bullshit?
I found something I wrote five years ago. The me then and the me now both would have clicked on this headline, knowing full well it was crap. It’s so tempting to think for just one second that someone, somewhere figured this all out and is ready to spill the secret.
I’ve tried finding my passion and purpose for, like, decades. I keep coming up empty-handed, but man, when I see one of those headlines, I get a little rush of adrenaline, thinking: Fuck! Today’s the day!
When I read my words from five years ago, I wanted to reach back in time and slap myself across the face, then squeeze me into a tight hug. Instead I’ve written 5-years-ago-me (in italics) a letter from MUCH wiser today-me (in bold):
